RE: Had it up to here with irresponsible dog owners

If you are absolutely, 100% certain of who the offending dog owner is, pick up the poo with a rubber glove and put it on their doorhandle.

RE: DP with bunks

Newmar has several DPs with bunks. The Ventana, All Star, Kountry Star (discontinued) and Dutch Star have bunkbed floorplans.

RE: Tight turns with a Class A and trailer?

That picture of the open trailer isn't my model. I have the optional electric jack. I haven't had any problems with it hitting any dips yet.

RE: Tight turns with a Class A and trailer?

I guess I've been spoiled by my V nose trailer. That prevents any crunching.

RE: Why have rules?

How were they holding the sites, and how difficult would it have been to take the site anyway?

RE: Sleeping 5 in a Class A without bunks?

If your kids are young, I would recommend getting a bunk model. The daily set up and clean up the couch, table, and floor gets old, not to mention it really limits your use of the coach once the kids go to bed.
That's why I got a bunkbed model. My kids are 2 and 5. I can put them to bed and have the entire living area available to play games, watch TV, etc.
When the out-laws come with us, they can use the sofa bed with the air mattress. That doesn't have to be set up until all of us go to bed, so we still have the whole living area available.
We've never used the dinette bed, but it would only be an option for a small child. It's too short for most kids over 12.

RE: Tight turns with a Class A and trailer?

Navigating off the highway....After going forward at full steering wheel lock, if you have to back up, you will probably contact/crunch the trailer with the MH.
I don't think you'll crunch the trailer. The turning radius of a MH is so much wider that I don't think that would be any more likely than it would with a pickup.
My trailer has a V nose, so it's definitely not an issue.

RE: Tight turns with a Class A and trailer?

There's no such thing as a sharp turn in a Class A motorhome.;)
I towed a 22' open trailer to Carlisle for a total of 61.5'. I only had some issues in the Fairgrounds. You have to really think about the best way to take full advantage of the space you have.
Get as far left as you can before making a right turn. Wait as long as possible to make the turn. Go slow and use your mirrors to keep an eye on the trailer.
Once you're out on the road, it's not an issue.

RE: Driving comfort Class A vs Class C??

Try a Newmar DP with Comfort Drive and compare it to the others you've tried.

RE: WOW my MotorHome mag is light!

Could it also be that it is JANUARY.
I've been on the forum for a few years now and I've noticed that the postings get slower this time of year too. I would imagine that the mags and the postings will pick up again in the spring.
It's November here. What time zone are you in?:B
(I know you meant it's the January issue)

RE: Disappointing WDW Campsite

We have never been to Ft. Wilderness, but I agree with my3sons. $100 per night? I don't think I would ever pay that for a RV spot. At least not without a bunch of amenities.
I think there's some sort of amusement park there, which is a nice amenity. :B

RE: What are your plans for '09??

I already have reservations for the rat's nest, er, Ft. Wilderness and Hershey Park.
I'll haul the Road Runner to the All Chrysler Nationals at Carlisle and the Mopar Nationals in Columbus. I might take it to the show on the Boardwalk in VA Beach.

RE: Buying a Class A, should I sell the popup?

TDI,
My trailer is an aluminum Tommy's Trailer. I used to have a steel trailer that was 2' longer. I wanted something shorter and lighter.
Other than the poor job they did grounding the wires for the tail lights (loosely rivited), it's worked well.
I'd want to drive the Road Runner for the tour, and taking a 2 year old and 5 year old on it wouldn't work out. They'd be bored.

RE: Buying a Class A, should I sell the popup?

If I were single with no kids, I'd love to try the Power Tour. My Road Runner with a 528 Hemi gets about the same mileage as my Ventana, though, and doesn't have a 100 gallon tank.
At least it has a/c.;)

It's a Newmar. It must have run out of diesel. ;)
In the ski tourist areas in Quebec, you'll find plenty of people who speak English. At least I did in the 90s.

RE: Help..... We need Opinions on what RV to Buy?

My vote would be a class A with bunks. Newmar, Tiffin or Winnebago.
I agree with that. The Super Cs with bunks that I looked at weren't nearly as nice as my "entry level" Newmar DP.

RE: Buying a Class A, should I sell the popup?

60RoadRunner,
I'd be happy to trade my rig for yours...
I'll even throw in the popup!
If I were looking to spend a little more money now - I'd have bought the Ventana 3942.
I am paying cash for the Itasca, so that's why I set a limit.
If I sell the PUP I'm probably going to get $7-8K as a guess... and it's paid for - so that's just cash back in the pocket for something else...
Enjoy your Itasca. I wanted something with bunkbeds that could tow at least 6000 pounds. My options were limited, and the Ventana 3942 was the best option at the time. I'm happy so far.
You don't want to try to sell that popup until Spring, so you have plenty of time to think it over.
It's probably true that you won't get a lot for it, but you get nothing for it if you don't sell. It will depreciate every year.
Now, if after thinking about it, you decide you'll get enough use out of it to keep it, then don't sell. Do you want to keep up with the maintenance on it? How about storage?
That's a personal decision that only you can make.
